Is it the right thing for your company? Some people cringe at the idea, while others are fine toying around the option. There can be a lot of distractions in an office setting. And of course there can be many distractions in your home, dependent on your family and living situation. Think about it, sometimes you get stuck at the office late because you got caught up talking to your coworker about her recent engagement. I mean as happy as you must be for her, you are now working into the wee hours of the night. If your housing arrangement is on the quieter side, and you have an office space to get and stay focused in, then most likely there is going to be more productivity. Here are just a few ways that both employees and the company can and will benefit from work from home situations. Here are several reason why more people are working from home:
Two-Sided Relationships
There is no better tie than trust. Employees feel a great deal of trust when employers agree to them working from home. Especially because many documents and emails are confidential. If you trust your employee and in turn they trust you, there should be nothing more to worry about. You could always provide them with equipment so they are not working from personal computers. Your employees are going to feel even more intrigued to work hard and get everything done. The pressure is on for them. Remember as I said above, there can be a fair amount of time wasted inner-office. If there is a mutual trust and respect, then none of this should be problematic.
Bigger Pool Of People To Recruit From
You’d be surprised at how many more people would come out of the woodwork when you are hiring if there is a remote opportunity. Let’s be honest, with the way things are today, some people would rather skip the commute and spend that time getting work done. Or perhaps spend those hours before work starts, driving their child to work instead of sitting in traffic just to get to their job. You reek a different scent when potential candidates see a work from home option. You can dissolve a lot of drama out of an extremely perfect candidate. They might just trust you a little more, seeing that you are willing to respect their life outside of work.
Loyalty To Infinity
It has been proven that employees who work out of the office are much more loyal to their employers. Why? Well they see them less and feel more intrigued to prove themselves over and over. Not in a brown-nosing way, but more along the lines of job security. Work-life balance is slightly less stressful and employees tend to feel much more satisfied. Happiness is key.
Helping Hands
You will notice much more involved employees when helping one another. Remote employees tend to be much more pleasant and will go out of their way to help their coworkers. Perhaps it is because telecommuters are more willing to lend a helping hand. Or maybe they are just trying to stay in plain sight so they are not forgotten while working at home. No one wants to be invalid.
More and more we see remote work opportunities and it appears it can work rather well on both ends. Less corporate office space which equals lower bills and chipper employees. It is something to consider in this day and age.
